The oval spearker was about $12 – $13. With an AC400, you may use the stock speaker and place it the rear wings of the engine.

thank you i will try it when my decoder comes

Thanks for the video!

Can you replace the speaker on the ESU 72434, and replace with the Soundtraxx oval speaker? I want to put sound in one of my Kato GP35s

Tommy B says:

@espinozajos I haven't worked with Loksound, but I do not see a reason why not. A Kato GP35 will need a small oval speaker part no 810103.

SPnoza13 says:

@tommie022481 Thank you sir!

Tommy B says:

@amtrak44 There is more than one way to accomplish the same thing. The easiest way is to use the Digitrax SDH164D. I have a few videos showing this.

I have 2 athearn blue box engines that hace tcs decodrs instlled, whatwould you recommend for adding sound. one is a gp9 and the other is a swither, I believe a nw?

Tommy B says:

@dep92 For the GP9, I would go with a SDH164D decoder from Digitrax, I have several videos on this. For the blue box switcher, i would have to recomend a SDN144PS from Digitrax and a speaker replacement to fit in the cab.

dep92 says:

@tommie022481 Thank-you for the reply, sorry it took so long to thank you. Are the sound decoders very hard to add? I know Digitrax has really good instruction manuals, but I'm not the best at soldering.

Tommy B says:

@dep92 It depends on the size of the engine. The GP9 will have a little more room to place a speaker that the switcher. I do installs if you like.

dep92 says:

@tommie022481 I'm scrapping the switcher, it's just not running very well. I took it apart and cleaned it and it just doesn't run like it did before. I might take you up on the install, should, I just send you a message and let you know? I may just break down and buy a new DCC w/sound engine.

vellieux says:

what SoundTraxx speaker did you use on the Kato SD70?

Tommy B says:

@vellieux Part number 810113

Tommy B says:

I would use Soundtraxx 810113 and any baffle that will fit 0.63" wide, 1.38" long. Should just fit right in. I would remove the rear weight and place it facing up through the fans in the rear of the loco for best sound.
